Dr. Eric P. Hoppmann, Co-Founder
Eric is a graduate of the University of Maryland’s Fischell Department of Bioengineering, where he developed DNA tests using SERS. Eric has had a long held interest in science and entrepreneurship, and has taken advantage of many of UMD’s resources, from technology venture coursework to MTECH’s array of start-up programs. Involved with Diagnostic anSERS since its inception in 2012, Eric has been employed by Diagnostic anSERS full time since their move to the University of Maryland Technology Ventures Building in mid-2013, where he has overseen the commercial scale-up of P-SERS™.
Dr. Wei W. Yu, Co-Founder
Wei is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he invented P-SERS™ and explored a myriad of applications, resulting in numerous publications demonstrating the application of P-SERS™ substrates, swabs, dipsticks and filters to enable detection of a wide array of high impact analytes. Wei joined Diagnostic anSERS in April, 2014.
Sean Virgile, Co-Founder
Sean is a 4th year graduate student at the University of Maryland’s Fischell Department of Bioengineering. He is working on a new low-cost biosensor for SNP detection. As a Fischell Fellow, Sean has helped to lead Diagnostic anSERS through numerous UMD and state of Maryland startup and technology commercialization programs.
Craig Dye, Advisor
Craig is the director of the VentureAccelerator program at the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTECH) in the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering. VentureAccelerator assists researchers and faculty in commercializing their research and systematically mentors them in the business processes necessary to bring their product to market. With over 20 years of investing, IT, and operational management experience, he has helped launch numerous sustainable and successful companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
